As a mom of a 16 year old driver, I always worry while she is on her way somewhere. She doesn't use her phone when she drives, so when I heard her ringtone only 10 minutes after she left our house, I felt instant panic. Her voice on the line told me what I've feared since the day she began driving. She was in a wreck, but okay. I flew out the door (possible broken toe!) to get my husband. I've never seen him move so fast--it's kinda funny now! We sped down our subdivision road at about 60--speed limit is 25, he was passing in curves, honking, and basically terrorizing everyone in our path!
When we arrived, there were people there with her, and it just looked like she parked her car in the slope that we call a ditch. It looked fine from the back! A bystander came over to me and said she was VERY lucky, and proceeded to tell me what he witnessed. She went off the road in a curve, and the slope of the non-existant shoulder pulled her completely off the road, she 'jumped' over a driveway, when through the yard, "jumped" over a side road, and came to a stop about 15 feet from a light pole and 2 electrical box thingies! The front bumper of her car was beat up and upon closer inspection, all 4 tires were angled in. When I saw the tire tracks through the yard, and saw that they were headed straight for the lightpole, I felt like I would be sick! Fortunately, she veered to the left and missed the pole! Her poor car goes back to the shop! She had someone back into it in a parking lot a few weeks ago!
We are very blessed to have an uninjured child! I know that she could have been hurt badly--or worse. She's beginning to get sore, which we figured would happen, so mom will be babying her tonight.
I thank God that she's okay! Hug those babies!!!! :)
